SLATER: TOWN OF KENT USES DIVISION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES TECH GRANT TO KEEP ROADWAYS SAFE

Assemblyman Matt Slater (R-Yorktown) stood with Kent Police Department and Town Supervisor after putting up an advanced speed monitoring system aimed at improving public safety and traffic enforcement in the community. This followed a technology grant from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS, which allowed the Kent Police Department to obtain and deploy additional traffic safety technologies.

The grant was part of an ongoing initiative to equip local law enforcement agencies with the technology and tools they need to enhance their operational efficiency and protect residents. The new speed monitoring system will help the Kent Police Department better identify and address speeding issues, ensuring safer roadways for residents and visitors.

“I am proud to have supported this critical funding to help law enforcement agencies like the Kent Police Department,” said Slater. “Investing in technology like this not only helps our officers in their day-to-day work but also improves the safety and quality of life for everyone in our community. Speeding has been a growing concern, and this new system will give the department the tools needed to enforce speed limits and make our roads safer.”

“I would like to thank Assemblyman Slater for securing this necessary funding for our police department. The Town of Kent appreciates the Assemblyman’s continuing initiative to provide local law enforcement agencies with tools to keep our communities safe,” said Jaime McGlasson, Town Supervisor of Kent.

“Thank you Assemblyman Slater for helping secure the funding for the Tech Grant. It’s through initiatives like the Tech Grant that legislators work with law enforcement to help make our community safer. It’s nice to know we can count on Assemblyman Slater to help our community,” said Chief Kevin R. Owens, Town of Kent Police Department.
